Cross-age, after school tutoring  is a grant that was interrupted when schools closed down.  It is a wonderful idea!  Older students get to reinforce what younger students are learning in the classroom, which is a good refresher for the older kids.  This program was carefully designed, materials purchased specifically for this age group, with teachers willing to stay after school to monitor activities.  There are definite lessons planned for each afternoon.  It gives the learners “hands-on” experiences with mental math.  They learn to add and subtract in the real world with these activities.  The project was planned for 3 schools.  Two schools had started when school stopped.  We sure hope that when school starts again, the third school will also have the opportunity for kids to benefit from this project.
