Escondido Education Foundation
Fund the day a child decides they love school.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that turns donations from Escondido residents and businesses into classroom funding at all 23 Escondido Union School District schools. Your gift does not travel far. It goes to work down the street.
501(c)(3), every donation is tax deductible Raised in Escondido, granted in Escondido Run by an all volunteer board
Who we are
A nonprofit built by the community it serves.
The Escondido Education Foundation is a community driven 501(c)(3) that raises funds for the grants and programs that empower educators, inspire learning, and promote innovation and academic excellence across the Escondido Union School District.
Public school budgets cover the essentials. They rarely cover the spark: the classroom library in a new language, the robotics kit, the instrument in a child's hands for the first time, the field study that turns a unit into a memory. Donors close that gap.
We are neighbors, parents, retired educators, and local business owners who serve without pay and without fanfare. Educators tell us what their students need. Donors fund it. Students get to do the kind of learning they talk about at dinner. Our commitment runs from kindergarten through middle school graduation, the years that set the foundation for everything after.
What your donation funds
Four programs, one purpose.
Our funding follows the classroom. Rather than set a district agenda, we resource the ideas that educators bring to us and the programs that help whole school communities thrive.
Innovation Grants
Direct funding for educator designed projects, from hands on science and coding to visual art and literacy in more than one language.
See how grants workInnovation Awards
Annual recognition for the educators who think outside the box and make it work, so strong practice gets seen, celebrated, and shared district wide.

Four ways to put your donation in a classroom.
Give once, give monthly, double your gift through your employer, or mail a check. Every route is tax deductible, and every dollar stays inside the Escondido Union School District.
Prefer to give by check? Make it payable to Escondido Education Foundation and mail to P.O. Box 461690, Escondido, CA 92046. We acknowledge every donation in writing for your tax records. Questions about donor advised funds, stock gifts, or including the foundation in your estate plans? Email Email the foundation.
Where your donation goes
Four reasons donors trust this foundation.
Giving locally should not require a leap of faith. Here is exactly what happens to a donation once it reaches us, and why so much of it survives the trip.
- A registered 501(c)(3) We are an incorporated nonprofit, not an informal fund. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and every donation receives written acknowledgment.
- No paid staff Our board and committees are unpaid volunteers. Nobody here draws a salary from your donation, which is why so much of each gift reaches a classroom instead of an office.
- Every dollar stays local We do not send funds to a national parent organization. Money raised in Escondido is granted to Escondido Union School District classrooms, inside the city limits.
- Educators decide, donors see it Funding follows applications written by the educators who teach your children, and awarded projects report back so donors can see the work their gift paid for.
For educators
Innovation Grants: funding for the idea you keep coming back to.
Innovation Grants give Escondido Union School District educators the resources to try something new. If you have been planning a project and waiting for a budget, this is the budget, and it comes from your own community.
We fund the practical and the ambitious: classroom sets of books, garden beds, sensors and microscopes, instruments, art supplies, coding hardware, translated family materials, and the field experiences that make a subject real. Applications are reviewed by a volunteer committee of community members and educators.
- Sketch the idea
Tell us what students will do, what you need, and what you hope changes. Plain language is welcome. Polish is not required.
- Submit the application
Complete the current Innovation Grant application and checklist. Email us and we will send the packet and answer questions before you file.
- Committee review
Volunteers read every application, looking for student impact, creativity, and a clear plan for the funds.
- Fund it and share it
Awarded projects receive funding and a short recap request, so the district and our donors can see the work in action.
Deadlines and award amounts change by cycle. Use the contact form for the current calendar, or read the blog for recent grant winners.
Ask a child what they loved about school and they will not describe a budget line. They will describe the day something clicked.
Business and community partners
Put your business behind the next generation of Escondido.
Local employers, service clubs, and family foundations underwrite grant cycles and events, and are recognized across the district and the wider community. Partnership can be a check, a match, or a truckload of what you already make.
Underwrite a grant cycle
Fund a named set of Innovation Grants and receive recognition on awarded projects, at events, and in our reporting to the community.
Match your employees
Many Escondido employers double staff donations. Ask your HR team about matching gifts, send us the form, and we will complete our side.
Give goods and services
Printing, storage, catering, transportation, technology, professional expertise. In kind support stretches every donated dollar further.
Sponsor an event
Reach families, educators, and civic leaders at foundation events while helping us keep event costs low so proceeds go to grants.
Request the sponsor kitPartners tell us the return runs both ways. Supporting Escondido schools invests directly in the workforce and the customers of the next decade, builds a reputation as a company that shows up locally, and puts your name in front of families, educators, and civic leaders at every event we hold. We shape each partnership around what your business actually wants to accomplish.

Events
Come raise money with your neighbors.
Foundation events raise funds for classroom grants and bring families, educators, and local businesses into the same room. Buy a ticket, bring a table of friends, or sponsor the afternoon.
6th Annual Fashion Show
Doors open 1:15 PM, show runs 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Trinity Episcopal Church, 845 Chestnut St., Escondido. Tickets are $60 per person or $100 for two, and all profits fund Escondido classrooms.
Get involved
The foundation runs on people who show up.
There is no paid staff behind this work. Board members, committee volunteers, and event helpers from across Escondido make every grant possible, and there is room for you.
- Serve on the board
Help set direction, steward donations, and represent the foundation across the community. Finance, marketing, and grant writing experience is especially useful. Meet the current board.
- Join the grant committee
Read educator applications and help decide which projects get funded. A meaningful few hours each cycle.
- Help at an event
Set up, greet guests, run a table, tell the story. The easiest way to see the work up close before you commit to more.
- Open a door
Introduce us to an employer, service club, or family foundation that cares about Escondido students.
For families
Your involvement is the key to your child's achievement.
Families are the reason the foundation exists and often the reason a project succeeds. Volunteer in the classroom, support your school PTA, and make an annual donation. All three compound.
Tell an educator about us
Many educators do not know grant funding is available. A single conversation at pickup has started more than one funded project.
Give what you can, yearly
An annual family donation is the backbone of this foundation. Small gifts from many households fund more classrooms than any single check.
Make your annual giftCome to an event
Foundation events are where families, educators, and local businesses meet. Bring your kids and bring a neighbor.
See what is coming upDonor questions, answered
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes. The Escondido Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, and contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. We send a written acknowledgment for every donation so you have documentation at tax time.
Where does my donation actually go?
Donations raised in Escondido are granted back to Escondido Union School District classrooms. Because an all volunteer board runs the foundation rather than paid staff, administrative cost stays low and a larger share of every dollar reaches students and educators.
Can my employer match my donation?
Often yes, and it is the fastest way to double your impact. Many Escondido area employers match employee charitable gifts dollar for dollar. Ask your HR team for the matching gift form, send it to Email the foundation, and we will complete our portion.
Can I give stock, use a donor advised fund, or include you in my estate?
Yes to all three. These gifts often carry tax advantages a cash donation does not, and they let supporters make a larger impact than they expected. Email Email the foundation and we will walk you through it. We are not tax advisors, so please confirm the details with yours.
Who can apply for an Innovation Grant?
Any certificated educator or school team in the Escondido Union School District. Grants support single classrooms, grade level teams, and school wide programs. If you are unsure whether your idea fits, email us and ask. We would rather talk it through than have you skip the cycle.
Are you part of the school district?
No. We are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that partners closely with the Escondido Union School District. That independence lets community donors fund creative work a public budget cannot always reach.
