Hi Carolyn,
Our lunch and afterschool clubs continue to grow. It is so exciting to see students get excited about their work and try new things. Normally, our 6th grade and 8th grade students don’t get to interact much, but this week we were able to have an 8th grade student teach some of our 6th grade students how to make bracelets out of yarn, and it was rewarding for the students to learn from a peer and that student got some leadership experience out of showing their peers how to do something. Here are some of the latest projects- stamp carving, button making, and sticker design. Students designed their stickers in the app Canva after making sketches, we printed them on sticker vinyl using the makerspace printer, and used our makerspace cutting machine to cut out the stickers for the students to take home. So cool to see how art and technology go hand-in-hand! If you have free time next week, next Tuesday from 2:45-3:45 we will have our after school makerspace club doing tie dye and cyanotypes if you would like to stop by!
Thank you again, it has been such an amazing experience so far for the students.
